Caesars Palace is one of those must-see attractions on the Strip. Between the Strip and building they have around twenty Roman Goddess statues that are suppose to bring guests luck, and two people mover sidewalks to make your journey inside an easy one. However, trying to leave isn't as easy, you have to depart through the main casino entrance and make the long walk back to the Strip on your own. If your driving Caesars has ample parking in its covered garage or you can use valet parking.
Originally Caesars Palace was going to be named the "Cabana" after a success hotel in Palo Alto, California, then the "Desert Palace" but opened as Caesars Palace on August 5, 1966.
Caesars is known worldwide for its replicas of famous statues and lavish surroundings. One statue that many miss on the front north side of the building not far from the Flamingo Road people mover is the Brahma Shrine donated to Caesars from a business man in 1983 to bring them luck. The Buddhist statue, a replica of the original in Thailand was cast in bronze and gold plated. After arriving at Caesars it was set in concrete and the base was covered with glass to protect it. The statue has an alarm system and video camera to protect it, look, but don't touch. The rest of the 85-acre property has a number of armless statues you'll enjoy viewing or having your picture taken by and a number of life-size statues with arms.
Inside guest are greeted by the 112 shops and restaurants of the "Forum Shops" where your sure to find what your're looking for. While in the mall area look at the ceiling, it changes from the morning sun to evening stars and back again. Shortly before leaving the mall area you'll find the "Festival Fountain" with Apollo, Bacchus, Plutus and Venus who entertain you with a light and sound show daily, every hour on the hour beginning at 10 a.m. The Forum Shops are so successful that they generate the highest per-square-foot in sales of any retail mall or outlet in the country.
After venturing through the casino and turning left you'll come across "The Appian Way" with a statue of David and shops with imported marble. Here you can purchase engraved crystal items, eyewear, designer clothing, lingerie, swimwear, the best of jewelry and gift items.
Amenities include: The "Race for Atlantis," the only Imax 3D simulator ride of its kind in the world that takes you on a journey through the lost city of Atlantis and Extreme, a film featuring world-champion athletes on a 57 foot high floor to ceiling screen. Imax's dome measures 82 feet in diameter, has the largest indoor fog system in operation, a nine-channel "Sensaround" sound system with 89 speakers and the dome is lit at night providing passersbys with a light show. Caesars has 2,224 rooms, including 232 suites. The Olympic Tower has standard rooms with Jacuzzis in the Olympic Square King, round beds in the Round Kings. Standard rooms in the Roman Tower range from $125 to $200 a night, suites from $800 to $1,000 a night. Caesars 10 "Fantasy Suites" are reserved for invited guest.
Caesars casino has around 1,930 slot and video machines from 5-cents to $500.00, with the majority in the 25-cent to $1.00 range and 117 gaming tables where its not uncommon to see people betting $100s to $1000s of dollars at the turn of a card or roll of the dice. Reserved for high rollers is the Palace Court Casino with 7 tables.
