The historic Dennis Hotel section of Bally's Park Place has undergone a multi-million dollar renovation with a rich, western Victorian theme similar to the popular Wild Wild West Casino at Bally's Park Place. The new theme for the Dennis Hotel was inspired by the success of The Wild Wild West Casino. The Dennis was a natural due to the fact that its history dates back to 1860.
The interior renovations to the 395 rooms and suites in the Dennis Hotel includes new carpet, drapes, bedding, furniture, wallpaper, and light fixtures. The exterior renovations include a new roof, windows, masonry, and painting. At the turn of the century, the Marlborough, Blenheim and Dennis hotels stood where Bally's Park Place currently stands. When Bally's acquired the properties in the 70s, the company was forced to demolish the Marlborough and Blenheim hotels because of relentless weathering from the salt air and structural problems. The Dennis, however, was sound and remained. The Dennis was originally a two-room cottage later expanded to 11 rooms. In 1892, further expansion added two new wings. In 1905, another wing was added which contained an elegant solarium and several small rooms used as servant quarters. The last stage of the Dennis construction took place in the early 1920's. In 1979 when Bally's purchased the land to build Bally's Park Place, the company decided to incorporate the historic Dennis Hotel into its new casino resort.
In 1998, the Dennis Hotel was incorporated into a seven-story Transportation Center with valet parking and in-side loading and unloading facilities for Motorcoach buses. The new Transportation Center, bounded by Pacific, Michigan, and Ohio Avenues, will provides 585 new valet parking spaces as well as a motorcoach lobby and 3,000-square-feet of retail and office space. The lobby is linked to escalators and a second level bridge to existing facility and casino areas.

One armed bandits made they're appearance on the famed Atlantic City Boardwalk in time for Bally's grand opening. Rounded up for the coral were machines designed with a western theme. With brands such as Runaway Jackpots, Bronco Busters, Blazing Seven's, Trailblazer and other popular brands, guest are bound to find the type of machine they enjoy playing the most .... while panning for gold.
Bally's opened a private video poker parlor, Little Joe's Video Poker Parlor, formerly Little Joe's Dance Hall. The parlor has 161 video poker machines ranging in denominations from 5-cents thru $5.00. The machines include thirty progressives, sixty Joker Poker machines, Double Joker Poker, Wild Wild West Exclusive Bonus Joker Poker, Double Bonus Poker, Double Down Stud Draw Poker, Double Down Stud Joker Poker, Deuces Wild Poker and Deuces Joker Wild Poker.
Customers can strike it rich on the over 1,700 slot machines nestled within a boom town setting of the old west. Bally's slot machines can be found among the cactus, mountains, and western-style decor of the casino floor. Now, there's no need to pan for gold when you play Runaway Jackpots offering slot pioneers the opportunity to become instant millionaires. Other thematic slot machine varieties include the Five & Dime General Store offering nickel and dime slots, along with Bally's Most Wanted Slots, Black & White, Gold Fever, and Western Heroes in $.25 denominations, and Joker Poker offering both $0.25 and $0.50 slot machines. The nine-reel, six-coin 25-cent Totem Pole slot machines are 94" high with a progressive jackpot that starts at $400,000.00. The Totem Pole slot machine is actually three 2-coin games in one. The three games offered are -- Red, White & Blue, Double Diamond and 5X Pay.
For the cowpokes who prefer Table Games, The Wild Wild West Casino offers craps, roulette, Black Jack, and more, complete with dealers decked out in western wear. The 75,000 square-foot western casino with its 40-foot ceilings creates a spacious atmosphere for the 58 table games that make you feel like you've just stepped back in time.
Accommodations: Bally's Park Place has 1,268 rooms and suites. The hotel tower has 800 upscale rooms with a view of the Atlantic Ocean, the remaining rooms are located in the Dennis Hotel in historic decor. Rates vary based on the season and location requested. Rates during our visit ranged from $95 to $175 for Main Wing rooms and $95 to $215 for Highrise Wing rooms.
The Wild Wild West Casino, located next to Bally's Park Place, treat's guests to specialty restaurants such as the Virginia City Buffet and Los Tres Hombres Cantina, plus offer a 90-foot long Mountain Bar and the Lone Star Snackbar.
Located in a western setting is the Virginia City Buffet, the main round-up for hungry partners. Dine on a multi-level western porch or street scene. The 17,500 square foot buffet has six action food stations. At Grub & Greens, six different soups, fresh salads with all of your favorite fixens, vegetables, and ocean treats like u-peel shrimp are plentiful. At Last Chance Deli, feast on the favorite deli selections that you've enjoyed over the years at Bally's Park Place "Pickle's Deli." When meat and potatoes just won't do, John Wangs (yes, you heard right)! serves up authentic Chinese cuisine like shrimp lo mein, pepper steak, barbeque pork and sweet and sour chicken. Chuckwagon will serve up juicy steaks and roasted chicken. Fort Pasta is the place for a taste of Italy with a variety of pastas like ziti, penne and rigatoni, also eggplant parmigiana, lasagna and mussels marinara. And to top off your complete dining experience, the Alamode dessert station will tempt you with fresh baked pies, pastries, cakes, and tarts. The Virginia City Buffet seats 380 people.
Los Tree Hombres Cantina serves appetizing cuisine from the southwest with a distinctive South of the Border spiciness. Imagine dining in an authentic Mexican Cantina while sipping a refreshing Margarita. Serving both lunch and dinner, the Cantina features a lunch menu which includes blue corn nachos, chicken quesadillas, grilled swordfish with tomatillo salsa, fajitas, steak and spinach salad, southwestern grilled chicken sandwiches and Arizona burgers. The Texas-size dinner menu includes favorites like albondigas soup, hot crab and shrimp taco, Texas pan handle chili, parras pork loin, 22-ounce porterhouse steaks, double cut grilled lamb chops, pescado mojo di ajo, desserts like wild blueberry cheese pie, Mexican double chocolate cake and warm granny smith apple taco. Los Tres Hombres Cantina seats 200.
The Lone Star Snackbar is the perfect place to hitch your wagon for a quick bite. Located next to the Mountain Bar, it features traditional American favorites like burgers, hotdogs, barbeque chicken wings, barbeque spare ribs, baked beans, chicken and hot stuffed peppers and chili. The Lone Star Snackbar seats 48 people.
One of the many highlights of The Wild Wild West is the amazing ninety-foot long Mountain Bar, located next to the Lone Star Snackbar. With a 122 person capacity, you can enjoy a favorite beverage while playing many of the exciting bar top slot machines. A mountain scene behind the bar allows guests to watch one of the many motorized trains that circle the seating area. Whatever your pleasure, the Mountain Bar is the watering hole to visit. And, if you get hungry, snacks from the Lone Star Snackbar are served.
Shopping: Studio, an upscale fashion boutique for men and women featuring designer clothing and accessories by noted designers such as Nicole Miller, Garfield and Marks, Wayne Rogers, Bally of Switzerland, Cole Haan, and Joseph Abboud.
Studio's featured items include women's apparel, swimsuits, evening wear, and accessories including unique scarves, jewelry and handbags. Men's apparel items include suits, shirts, pants, shoes and accessories including jewelry, cigar humidors, and executive items such as pens and briefcases. Open Sunday through Thursday, 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 10:00 a.m. to Midnight. Two other stores include Fabulous Atlantic City and Fralinger's Salt Water Taffy located on the Boardwalk.

Hilton Hotels Corporation spend over $100 million on the Western-themed casino, entertainment complex and shopping arcade. Aptly named the Wild Wild West Casino at Bally's Park Place, this exciting project is on the Boardwalk next to Bally's Park Place on oceanfront acreage, Atlantic City's first Western-themed casino, entertainment complex and shopping area. Intricate facades were erected to resemble a western frontier town on the exterior of the casino. Inside construction includes an animated mountain, waterfalls, and a running water stream flowing through the property. Seventeen state-of-the-art continuously performing animated robotic figures are featured.
Wild Wild West Casino added 46,580 sq. feet to its existing casino space of 72,130 sq. feet giving them a total of 118,710 sq. feet, total land of 3.5 acres -- Simulcast space 36,124 sq. feet -- Total gaming space 154,834 sq. ft. -- New retail space 1,925 sq. ft. Shops include: Beyond the Mississippi, clothing boutique; Boardwalk Mercantile, souvenir and gift shop; Sweet Rocks & Gumdrops candy store; Buffet, Restaurants & Bar 27,000 sq. feet. Employment: 1,200 new jobs. Cost: $100+million. Groundbreaking: April 1996. Completion date: July, 1997. Seventeen state-of-the-art animatronics (robotics) are featured throughout the casino. The robotics includes 12 human-like figures (cowboys, dance hall girls, gunfighters and more) and five animals including a talking rattlesnake and a sassy vulture displayed on a 15-foot tall cactus.
Bally's commissioned the same masterminds that created the robotic dinosaurs for the Jurassic Park exhibit in Universal Studios. The Wild Wild West Casino at Bally's Park Place takes you back to the old boom towns of the old west. At the table games you'll play with authentic looking cards from the 1800's. The cards feature various sepia-colored photographs of real cowboys and saloon girls. The Wild Wild West Casino at Bally's Park Place offers colorful and creative chips. The casino chips feature cowboys, saddles, wagon wheels, rifles, spurs and Connastoga wagons. Denominations include $1, $2.50, $5, $25, $100, $500, $1,000 and $5,000. Plus, a $10 limited edition commemorative was designed for the celebration of the Grand Opening.

Sbarro - pastas, pizzas, sandwiches, Italian entries; Spa Cafe - healthy foods, fish, turkey, salads; The Sidewalk Cafe - shrimp buffets.
