The Turning Stone Casino is off of Exit 33 of the New York Thruway (the I-90). Make a left at the light, another quick left and your there. About 30 miles east of Syracuse.
Since the casino has Video Lottery Terminals (VLTs) instead of slot machines players are required to sign up for a Turning Stone Casino "Diamond Card." After receiving the card you have to deposit money into your account at the cashiers cage or with someone pushing a cart with an electronic transmitter that tells the computer how much money to credit your account with.
Then you insert the Diamond Card into the VLT machine and use the touch screen key pad to activate the card using your private pin number. Remember your pin number, the card does not expire. When your ready to leave you have to cash out at the cashiers cage. You need at least $150.00 of action to receive a perk.
In 1991, Jim Trombino left his job at an accounting firm in Syracuse, NY to become the Chief Financial officer of the Oneida Nation which employs over 2,800 people. The Turning Stone Casino, the largest of it's enterprises, started out as a casino only complex with a buffet restaurant and a grayish looking rock which revolved at the entrance of the driveway as its logo.
Using his business and marketing skills, Jim Trombino turned the casino into a successful, profitable operation. Construction on the hotel and shopping complex ran a year behind schedule but the end result was well worth the wait for them.
