The Casino: Resorts' most important entertainment option is its luxurious casino offering waves of plush table games and what seems to be an endless array of glittering, state-of-the-art slot machines. With 70,000-sq. - ft of casino space, Resorts has something to meet the needs or every gaming patron, from the beginner to the premium player. Located next to the Coin Redemption Booth at the Boardwalk entrance of the casino, these new $0.25 machines feature a "Spin The Wheel" display similar to a roulette wheel. If the "Spin The Wheel" money bag symbol lands on the third reel payline with three coins played, the player gets a chance to win a bonus amount of 25 to 500 coins. When the bonus multiplier box on top of the spill wheel randomly displays digits from 1 to 3, and the wheel begins to spin, the player wins the amount of coins that the wheel lands on, times the number shown on the multiplier box. The excitement mounts when the wheel lands on 500, and the multiplier box stops at the number 3, to reveal a top bonus jackpot of 1500 quarters. Le Palais was voted as the top-ranked Atlantic City casino hotel restaurant in the 1998 Zagat Survey of New Jersey Restaurants. Meeting and Convention Facilities: With 43,360 sq.- ft. of meeting and convention space, Resorts hosts ten meeting rooms. The Coconut Ballroom which has 12,000-square-feet of space, serves as the largest and can accommodate 1,130 theatre style, 1,000 for receptions or 600 dinner guests. The first roll of the dice. The first spin of the reels. It all happened on May 26, 1978 at Resorts Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
"20th Anniversary" (1998) celebration highlights: Entertainment included: Brenda Lee Feb. 25 thru March 2; The Lettermen Mar. 4 - 11; A Tribute To A Legend on his 85th Anniversary in Show Business, starring Milton Berle - also Red Buttons, Sid Caesar, Norm Crosby, Dick Capri and Johnny Francis as M.C., Mar. 13 and 14; Donald O'Conner and Carmel Quinn Mar. 15-17; Tony Danza Mar 20-22; Four of A Kind March 25-30; Engelbert Humperdink April 17-19; Little Anthony & The Imperials April 22 thru 27th. To top it all Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme took center stage in the "Superstar Theatre" on Memorial Day weekend, May 22 thru May 24th 1998 as they did 20 years ago on opening day 1978.
To celebrate the Resorts 20th Anniversary as the first "East Coast Gaming Resorts Casino Hotel," a limited series of promotional commemorative chips were available to guests playing slots and tables games with their Star Cards for the twenty week celebration which began on February 18, 1998. Each week 7,500 chips were issued including one weekly Golden Chip redeemable for $5,000 cash! A total of $100,000 in cash awards. The collector chips included the Resorts' opening day in 1978, , the Superstar Club, the Rendezvous Lounge, Wayne Newton and many more.
Free 20th Anniversary slot tournaments were held from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. daily with prizes to twenty randomly selected players using their Star Cards. Top prize of $100.00, 2nd & 3rd prize, $25.00 each. 20th Anniversary Blackjack, held nightly at 8:30 p.m., daily, consisted of 28 blackjack players randomly selected from the casino floor while playing with their Star Cards. Top prize of $200.00, finalists' received $20.00 match play and all remaining participants received $5.00 match play. Twentieth Anniversary T-shirt trivia contests were also part of the fun.
During the Twentieth Anniversary celebration, all players using their Star Cards earned an entry in the "One Million Dollar Anniversary Sweepstakes." To win the grand prize, the grand prize winner selected four dice, the total sum of the dice rolled had to total 20, if not, the winners consolation prize was $20,000 cash.
