Luxor Las Vegas

Luxor Las Vegas is a pyramid-shaped 30-story bronze pyramid megaresort housing the world's largest atrium.

Set on 47 acres of land the Luxor measures 561' 11 15/32" by 561' 11 15/32," reaches 350 feet into the sky. Luxor's 2.45 million square-feet houses 2,526 rooms, including 14 suites, a 3,000 square-foot Presidential Suite and 236 Jacuzzi suites. Luxor is the world's largest atrium measuring 29 million cubic feet. The 30-story bronze glass pyramid has 26,783 glass plates totaling 570,000 square feet, or 13 acres of glass. The $375 million Luxor opened on October 15, 1993, after 18 months of construction.

Luxor's $240 million expansion

The expansion of the Luxor included two pyramid-shaped towers with 1,948 guest rooms, including 238 suites to the existing 2,526 room megaresort, giving them a total of 4,474 rooms and suites. Construction included a steakhouse, Italian restaurant, 1,200-seat showroom, wedding chapel, new pool to the existing Egyptian decorated pool area, 12,000-square foot spa with cabanas, approximately 17,000 square-feet of meeting and convention space and 14,000 square feet of retail space.

The registration desk, as well as the V.I.P. check-in was moved to the front of the hotel for a more efficient check-in. A Tour and Travel check-in area with bus parking is located at the North entrance.

Light Beam

At dusk the world's brightest beam of light comes alive, shooting straight up from the top of the hotel. A 10-story sphinx decorates the front entrance. As the water dances, a water screen appears with projections of King Tut. Luxor also hosts one of Las Vegas' largest swimming pools. Intensive water conservation and recycling methods are utilized.

Fun Facts

Luxor's "Beam of Light," the most powerful in the world shines from the top of the pyramid, at 40 times the candle power of a strong searchlight (40 billion candle power versus one billion candle power). The light beam is visible at cruising altitude from Los Angeles, approximately 250 miles away, on a clear night.

Egyptians believed that their souls would climb up the sides of the pyramid and ride the beam to the after life, which sparked the idea for creating the beam at the Luxor.

Eleven acres of glass make up the sides of the pyramid. The elevators run at an angle of a ski-lift, 39 degrees up each corner of the pyramid. Nine Boeing 747s could be stacked in Luxor's atrium -- containing 29 million cubic feet.

Room's

Luxor's unique structure design provides every room with an excellent view of the Las Vegas skyline and the surrounding mountains. Each oversized room offers approximately 465 square feet of living space, and the Jacuzzi suites range in size from 600 to 1,100 square feet, reflecting a level of comfort and service expected from one of the world's finest hotels. All room entries are situated on the perimeter of the pyramid, over looking the atrium. As guest step outside their door, the atrium view showcases the Attraction Level with a distinct and exciting view of Millennium, Luxor's high energy cafe.

The casino area consists of 120,000 square feet and three lounges (the majestic River Nile was removed). Luxor's Megabucks slot machines offer customers a chance to become millionaires. "Circus Bucks" slot machine jackpots start at $500,000, winners are paid in full, instantly.
