The Mirage

Opened November 1989

The Mirage is a tropical South Seas oasis, with lush foliage, waterfalls and lagoons with rich tropical colors and carved teakwood providing guest with a relaxing atmosphere.

Walkways leading to the hotel, are enveloped by the entrance garden with its towering waterfalls cascading over rockscapes 50 feet above the lagoon. The entrance greets guest with a "live" volcano which erupts every few minutes, spewing smoke and fire 100 feet above the water.

The driveway of The Mirage is lined with palm trees, in a colonial era setting. Baggage is unloaded and moved via an automated conveyor system for speedy behind-the-scenes delivery to guest rooms upon registration.

Replacing the traditional neon sign associated with old Las Vegas, The Mirage resort tempts visitors with multiple lagoons, waterfalls and a 54-foot volcano. The Mirage stands out in the desert town, not only for its distinctive Y-shape and gold and white exterior, but for its standard of style and splendor as the premier travel destination in Las Vegas.

Evenings burst to life at The Mirage when the property's 54-foot volcano erupts. Flames shoot into the night sky as the tranquil waterfall is transformed into streams of molten lava. The Mirage volcano has become one of the signature attractions of Las Vegas.

Inside the front entrance of The Mirage, is a indoor atrium filled with palm trees that reach 60 feet above waterfalls and pools which meander through a forest of rich tropical fauna including banana trees, elephant ears and tropical orchids.

Woven into this waterscape of cascading falls and towering palms, delicately arranged tropical flowers are enveloped in natural sunlight protected by a computerized misting system.

At the front desk, guest are greeted with a 20,000 gallon artificial coral reef aquarium stocked with sharks, pufferfish and angelfish swimming between the buildings of a sunken undersea city.

Siegfried & Roy: At the south entrance, guest are greeted with a specially-designed habitat, the home of Siegfried & Roy's Royal White Tigers. Another major attraction is the 2.5 million gallon Dolphin Habit for four adult and three young bottlenose dolphins. The primary purpose of these two attractions is to educate guest and school children alike on the wonder of marine mammals.
