The Coney Island Emporium is located on the 2nd floor next to the entrance to Manhattan Express. This exciting roller coaster twists, loops and dives around the perimeter, and even through the center of the property allowing riders to experience the thrilling force of "negative gravity." Only the second of its kind in the world, Manhattan Express features a 180-degree "heartline" roll maneuver to provide riders with heart stopping actions and thrills.
The Coney Island Emporium combines the freshness of Coney Island from the early 1900s with the high-tech gadgetry and special attractions of today and tomorrow. The 28,000-square-foot complex features Midway style carnival games, laser tag, an eight-player Daytona-style interactive driving simulator, bumper cars, shooting galleries and coin-operated games.
Every element of the New York-themed attraction is designed to bring the excitement and energy of the Coney Island and Big Apple experience to life. For example, the bumper car arena features re-creations of checker cabs, black limousines and other cars careening through downtown Manhattan. Overhead, visitors are treated to a fiber-optic fireworks show. The laser tag attraction invites participants to join opposing teams and engage in battles throughout the streets of New York City.

This special attraction incorporates the latest in 3D polygon graphic technology and uses a combination of big screen television playback, live monitors, individual motion-based race cars to pit eight racers against each other in competition to capture the checkered flag. Summer hours 9 am to 2 am -- (702) 736-4100.
Contributing to the overall hotel theme, all employees wear appropriate New York City costumes. Ride and attraction operators, as well as game area attendants, wear stylized NYPD uniforms, while game stand operators, entertainers, and souvenir and snack food vendors are adorned in Coney Island straw hats, garters, vests and striped shirts in a style reminiscent of the early 1900s.
Additionally, live "street" entertainment such as a barbershop quartet, jugglers and mimes, perform throughout the center during peak hours.
"We have gone to great lengths to present an overall feeling that is truly reminiscent of Coney Island," said William J. Sherlock, president and CEO of New York-New York Hotel & Casino. "'We wanted to be able to offer an entertainment complex that the entire family can enjoy and Amusement Consultants is the best amusement operator to Provide that experience."
High Speed Roller Coaster "Manhattan Express" features first-ever "Heartline" twist and dive maneuvers. Riders experience the thrilling sensation of negative G's - the kind of roller coaster that made Coney Island famous.
A heartline roll is similar to the sensation felt by a pilot during a barrel-roll in an airplane -- when the center of rotation actually becomes the same as the passenger's center of gravity. In the twist and dive portion of the ride, the train rolls 180 degrees suspending its riders at 86 feet above the casino roof before diving directly under itself.
To embark on the journey, riders board one of five, four-car, 16-passenger trains from inside the casino and then ascend a 203-foot tall lift. Height and speed characterize the first half of the ride. The initial drop of 75 feet is just a warm-up for the 55-degree, 144-foot second drop that passes within a few feet of the hotel's valet entrance at 67 miles per hour.
Continuing along Tropicana Boulevard, the train ascends to 152 feet, banks left, then climbs onto the casino roof. Here, riders encounter a dizzying succession of high banked turns, camel back hills, a vertical loop, a 540-degree spiral, and finally, the sensational heartline twist and dive. As the train nears the end of its 4,777 feet of track, the coaster disappears through the casino roof and returns to the station.

New York-New York Hotel & Casino adopts the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Nevada as its official charity!
The New York-New York Hotel & Casino, which created more than 2,700 new jobs in the Las Vegas community will also deliver hope and joy to hundreds of children supported by the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Nevada by adopting the organization as its corporate beneficiary.
Make-A-Wish is dedicated to granting the "wishes" of children up to 18 years of age who are suffering from life threatening illnesses. Since the organization is not funded in any way by the government it relies heavily on private and corporate donations, as well as internal and external fund raisers.
Contribution monies specifically are used to facilitate special requests from participating children. These wishes can take a variety of forms, from arranging for the child to meet his/her favorite celebrity to purchasing new toys for the child to funding an out-of-state, or even overseas, vacation for the child's whole family.
"Make-A-Wish is a wonderful organization that really does make a big difference in the lives of children faced with the obstacle of a serious illness," said William J. Sherlock, president and CEO of New York-New York Hotel & Casino. "We believe that our business is about much more than bringing customers to our property, it's also about giving back to our local community. For that reason, we are pleased and proud to be affiliated with Make-A-Wish."
As part of its ongoing relationship with the charity, New York-New York Hotel & Casino will provide financial support to fund the wishes of local Las Vegas-area children, as well as assist with what the organization calls "wish assists."
As part of the "wish assist" program, New York-New York will also fulfill requests from children outside of the local community who wish to visit Las Vegas. Specifically, the resort will host children and their families at the property by providing them with amenities such as hotel accommodations, complimentary meals and show tickets.
