The Orleans was build on an 88-acre site just west of Interstate 15 and Las Vegas Blvd. The site is easily accessible from Arville and Cameron Streets in addition to Tropicana.
The Orleans is a 22-story hotel tower with 810 rooms and 30 suites, 6 restaurants, a 827-seat "Branson" style theatre, 160-seat cabaret, themed specialty bars, gift shop; 70-lane bowling center on the second level, 40,000 square-feet of convention/ banquet facilities, a wedding chapel and parking for 3,750 vehicles.
The entire hotel and casino is decorated in New Orleans-style decor with features of the French Quarter, the Garden District and Mardi Gras. Visitors enter through a forty foot-high atrium highlighted by a New Orleans themed sculpture, lush green landscaping, and the enchanting sounds of live New Orleans jazz.
All guest rooms are actually 450-square-foot spacious "Petite Suites" containing luxurious features such as a separate seating area with a sofa, full-length mirrors, granite vanities, etched glass bathroom windows, 25 inch television sets and elegant New Orleans-style decor. Thirty luxury one- and two-bedroom suites are also available. Handicapped rooms available on each floor.
Gaming
Under a 40-foot-high ceiling depicting typical New Orleans street scenes and architecture, the 92,000-square-foot casino contains all the popular games and slots in addition to separate Keno and Poker areas and a state-of-the-art Race and Sports Book.
The casino area has 65 gaming tables with Baccarat, Blackjack, Caribbean Stud, Craps, Let It Ride, Pai Gow Poker, Roulette and over 2,100 video keno and video poker machines with the latest games and traditional favorites.
With seating for 125 persons, new generation LED reader boards and the latest high resolution giant screen televisions, the Race and Sports Book makes all major race and sports events instantly available. The Race Book provides 13 betting windows for parimutuel wagering, while the Sports Book features seven betting windows.
Poker players can enjoy their favorite live poker games in the 16-table Poker Room. The conveniently located 24-hour Keno Lounge seats 60. Keno service is available in restaurants and throughout the casino.

Canal Street Grille - American-style Specialty room featuring prime rib and New Orleans style dishes. Seats 194. Room enhancements include entry through a door of carved glass and a cozy fireplace at the back of the restaurant. Don Miguel's - Mexican Restaurant and Margarita Bar. Restaurant seats 158, bar seats 30. Guest are greeted with impressive mirror and brass ceiling treatments, a large wall mural, margarita bar, tortilla cooking display. A wide selection of authentic Mexican dishes are offered. Courtyard Cafe - 24-hour coffee shop also serving New Orleans specialties and Chinese dishes. Seats 302. French Market Buffet - features individual serving areas and open display cooking. Seats 344. Vito's - featuring, traditional dishes and gourmet pizzas. Piano Bar. Terrible Mikes features made to order hamburgers and other grilled-to-order sandwiches. Located adjacent to the Race and Sports Book. Seats 72. Kate's Korner - Ice Cream and Specialty Coffee Parlor located near the hotel registration area. Seats 60. Specialty Bars: Three themed island bars. The Mardi Gras, Crawfish, and Alligator surround the gaming area. Televised race and sport event viewing is available at each location.
Entertainment
The 827-seat Branson-style showroom features nightly entertainment. The room's amphitheater-style design and state-of-the-art sound and lighting systems ensure a sensational entertainment experience for guests of all ages. Dark on Monday's. The Bourbon Street Cabaret features live entertainment and includes elaborate piano decor. Seats 160.
Weddings
The Chapel Orleans is unique in that it contains a flexible area, is 7,400-square-feet, seats 60 people or can be expanded to accommodate up to 450 people. A variety of wedding packages are available with the help of professional wedding consultants and catering specialists..
Conventions
Four separate rooms containing a total of 40,000-square-feet, all equipped with state-of-the-art audio/visual facilities. Other amenities include a second-floor kitchen, separate fax and copy room, and freight elevators leading from the loading dock to the convention area.
The 16,152-square-foot Mardi Gras Ballroom was designed for large conventions, trade shows and parties. 1,100 people can be served banquet-style. The room can be divided into two areas. Esplanade Room, 8,056-square-feet, ideal for events of up to 520 people, banquet- style, can be divided into four separate areas. Dauphine Room, 6,072-square-feet, seats 400 persons banquet-style, can be divided into six separate rooms. Bienville Room, 3,696-square-feet, seats 250 banquet-style, can be divided into two separate rooms.
Amenities
Bowling Center - A 70 lane automatic scoring Bowling Center is located in a completely soundproofed area on the second floor. Five tournament meeting rooms, 2,000 lockers, a fast-food snack bar, lounge and video arcade round out the facility, making it one of the world's premier bowling centers. Gift Shop - located on the casino floor near the entrance to the hotel tower. Beauty Salon and Barber Shops - located on the ground level, operated by experienced beauticians and barbers. Swimming Pool - oval-shaped at its center. A separate lounging pool, bubbling spa, fitness center, beach area, cabana area, gazebo-style bandstand for entertainment, ornate fountain, a convenient full-service bar.
Expansion
On May 21, 1997, The Orleans Hotel and Casino announced a $40 million expansion project. Among the features added in the 184,000- square-foot expansion was a 12-plex movie theater, retail shopping areas, a child care center, children's arcade, additional restaurants and food outlets including a New Orleans-themed restaurant/ nightclub/ lounge featuring live entertainment.
