Creation of popular games, a Palace tradition.
Railroad Pass members can use their players card at Boulder Station, Palace Station, Sunset Station and Texas Station.
As a traditional creator of popular casino games, Palace Station and Station Casinos continues to develop more new and exciting games, new technologies, new jackpots.
Reversible Royals was a new concept when it was invented at the Palace Station. A jackpot is paid on royal flushes when the cards are dealt left to right, or right to left. Now a standard in Las Vegas, Reversible Royals was developed by Veme Holmes, Station Casinos vice president of new product development. We wanted to come up with a new, and more exciting way to play video poker, he said. It took several months to develop the game and technology to implement it.
Now, Kolmes and his partner Linton Mathews, STCI's director of new game development, have developed 14 more new games that are available only at Station Casinos' properties. All 14 debuted on July 10th at Palace Station, Boulder Station and Texas Station. And, in typical STCI fashion, the new games introduce a new and unique concept in video poker. Each new game can pay jackpots on the deal and the draw. And that means if a player is dealt a winning hand he is paid. For example, in a game called Blackjack Poker, a player who is dealt a black ace and a black jack is paid on the deal. If, after he is dealt an additional winning hand, such as a royal flush, the player is paid again on the draw. Other new games include Bonus Poker With Sevens, Hopscotch Poker, Freebee Poker, Curve Straight, Faces 'N Deuces, Stop Sign Poker, Mega Royals, Jokers' Revenge, Double Action Pairs, Double Bonus Poker with Bonus Sevens, Relay Pairs, and Royalty Boat.
Another recent Station Casino innovation is Nevada's first-ever linked Bad Beat poker jackpot. On June 1st. Palace Station, Boulder Station and Texas Station were linked via computers and telephone lines in Station's Super Bad Beat Progressive.
This first-of-its-kind poker progressive begins with an initial jackpot of $50,000 funded by the three casinos. When a player at one of the properties has a Bad Beat hand, he or she wins the jackpot and everyone else playing at that time wins a share.
And hit it did! On June 11 and 12, Las Vegas' first, computer-linked progressive Bad Beat jackpot hit three times for a total of $141,702.65 awarded to 247 poker players at the three properties.
Stations Super Bad Beat Progressive games are Texas Hold'Em, Seven-Card Stud (four 10s) and Omaha (four jacks).
Jackpots are distributed as follows: 40% to the losing hand; 20% to the winning hand; 10% to the players at the table where the hand was beaten; 30% to the remaining players at all three Poker Rooms. The jackpot rake is separate from, and in addition to, the house rake. The dealer will rake $1 from each pot of $25 or more. The pot must consist of at least $25 to qualify. In addition, the game must have a minimum of four active players.
"Interest in Bad Beat poker has grown tremendously during the past several years. Our linked progressive jackpots add even more excitement to the game," said Blake L. Sartini, STCl's president of Nevada operations.
The system and link-up were in development for over one year. The Nevada Gaming Control Board approved it in April. The technology for Station's Super Bad Beat Progressive is similar to the system currently used by statewide progressive slot systems.
"Our linked progressive jackpot has the ability to grow quickly with each poker room contributing to it. We feel the jackpot could eventually be Nevada's largest with the possibility of reaching $100,000," Sartini said.
Station Casinos and Palace Station continue to offer customers new games as technology changes. Around the casino floor, players will find Game Maker, Megabucks, and Cool Millions as well as favorites such as Caribbean Stud Poker, Pai Cow Poker, and Shooters.
