Treasure Island

Treasure Island officially lowered its gangplank October 26, 1994. The 36-story, 100-acre, Treasure Island resort is located adjacent to The Mirage and features 2,891 guest rooms and suites.

A conveniently located monorail transports guests easily between Treasure Island and The Mirage. Treasure Island & The Mirage are the first Strip properties to offer "inter-hotel" charging privileges. Guest of either hotel may charge services at either property to their rooms.

As visitors and guest approach Treasure Island they are greeted by Buccaneer Bay, a spectacular facade at the front of the property where the 80-foot long pirate ship Hispaniola and HMS Britannia are docked at Skull Point.

.

An hourly sea battle between Treasure Island pirates and British naval officers aboard full-scale ships, with 30 stunt people and actors is one of Las Vegas' main attractions.

A British frigate, the HMS Britannia, steals around Skull Point and spies the pirate ship Hispaniola unloading its booty. The British challenge the pirates to surrender. Brazenly, the pirates refuse. A full-scale pyrotechnic war to the finish ensues, as huge masts snap and plunge into the sea, buildings explode into flames and sailors catapult through the air and into dangerous waters below. Shows run Sunday through Thursday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m; Friday's and Saturday's from 4 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. every 90 minutes. Admission is free.

Mutiny Bay is an 18,000 square foot entertainment center offering video games, pinball and electronically simulated games. The dramatic stone interiors of Mutiny Bay, designed as an ancient Moorish castle, serve as a secret retreat for those plundering souls in search of refuge and excitement.

'X' marks the spot in colorful mosaic tile at the entrance to Mutiny Bay, where visitors begin their adventure as pirates and treasure hunters. A welcoming emblem declares the pirates' message: "Mutiny Bay, A Safe Haven for Pirates and Mutineers Alike."

From stone alcoves within the walls, the skeletons of the founding fathers of this castle retreat greet visitors. Their spirits live on in Mutiny Bay to tell the history of this once docile Moorish fortress, overtaken centuries ago by pirates and seamen weary from their notorious journeys. Passing through a mysteriously dark hallway, visitors enter the Map Room where an antiquated treasure map hangs to guide them on their adventure. At the centerpiece of Mutiny Bay are the Midway games of skill, where hopeful pirates can try their luck and win treasures aplenty.

Younger pirates may choose to enter the Enchanted Chamber, harboring games designed especially for them. For those looking for video and pinball games, The Armory is the spot. The Treasure Hold, serving as Mutiny Bay's redemption center, is piled to the sky with treasures. Beware, though. A hideous pirate soul stands guard with threats and curses, turning away unworthy plunderers in search of Mutiny Bay's riches .

Everywhere within Mutiny Bay evidence of pirate plunder can be seen. "Acquired" goods and pieces of pillaged ships accentuate the architecture. Within the courtyard, residents of Mutiny Bay can be seen on the balconies and behind the cottage windows which extend from the fortress walls. Across the courtyard, two pirates engage in a sword fight.

Guests are enveloped in the sounds of a pirate village. "Down the colors an' hoist the Jolly Roger," "Now, boys. Get that booty stowed below, an' set `er afire. Footsteps on a ship's wooden deck, the cry of seagulls, the crashing of waves and the cries of pirates and their victims as they engage in battle also fill guests ears. Avast, ye cowards, welcome to Mutiny Bay. Enter at your own risk.
